Any student has a right to appeal a decision of the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) or of any member of the Institute’s staff. Appeals involving academic matters (e.g. assessments, teaching methods and standards) must be made to the Dean in the first instance. Appeals relating to administrative matters, or the conduct of staff, must be made to the CEO in the first instance.
The process, described below, sets out the escalation process should the appeal not be considered resolved by this first approach and the student is not satisfied with the decision of the CEO or of the Dean. It is the responsibility of the CEO or the Dean to escalate the appeal as required.
There are no costs associated with making an appeal and escalating it within the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT). If an appeal is escalated outside the Institute then this may incur costs for the student.
NOTE: In place of the magistrates Court the grievance will go to the ombudsman.
The Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) may, or may not, agree to independent mediation through the Citizens Advice Bureau and may, or may not, agree to accept the outcome of this mediation.
The options available for appeal will depend on the nature of the grievance.

How can an e-learning course be interactive?

Boredom can be a real danger, however, we use an interactive approach to our e-Learning – with live sessions instead of recordings.  The webinar software allows everyone to interact and involves participants in group work; including hands-on exercises with simulation software and remote laboratories where possible.  You can communicate with text messages, or live VoIP speech, or can even draw on the whiteboard during the sessions.
